The Rock Half Pint Half Marathon 2026

On Saturday 5th September, we're walking 14 miles from The Rock in Coalville to The Blue Boar, taking in 14 pubs along the way — 16 all told, counting the two at either end — and having a half pint in every single one.

It's not big, it's not clever. In fact, by the time we've got up the hill to the Bull's Head — that's pub number one of the fourteen — there'll already be a few regrets. But it works, and this year it's for LOROS.

Why we do it

We do it for Nick.

Nick was one of ours. Full of life, quick with a laugh, and the sort of bloke who'd tell you exactly what he thought of an idea like this before turning up anyway and outlasting the lot of us. Losing him in 2025 knocked the wind out of everyone who knew him.

LOROS — the Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice — care for over 2,500 terminally ill patients and their families across our county every year, free of charge. That care doesn't happen by itself. It's paid for by people like you, chucking a few quid at daft ideas like ours.

Third time lucky

This is the third year we've done this walk, and somewhere between the first one and now it stopped being a one-off and became a tradition. More walkers every year, more sore feet on the Sunday, and the same conversation halfway round about whether we really need to do the rest.

Last year we raised £3,067. We'd love to beat it.
