Story
My dad's recent dementia diagnosis has profoundly inspired our charity effort for 2026.
On Saturday, 15th August 2026, I will be taking part in the 100K run from Aviemore to Buckie on the Speyside Way as part of the Moray Way ultras series.
On the 27th September we will both be taking part in the Loch Ness marathon, Elaine’s first ever marathon at the youthful age of 63! Up until a couple of years ago neither of us had done much running and if you had told us we’d be attempting these events we’d simply have laughed at you and thought you’d gone a little nuts 😂
These will be by far the longest and toughest runs we’ve ever attempted, and the only target is to try and finish the races while raising much-needed funds for a charity that has sadly come sharply into focus for our family.
Alzheimer Scotland is the leading national dementia charity in Scotland. Our mission is to ensure that nobody faces dementia alone.
We provide advice, information, and support, and we are here for people living with dementia, their families, and carers across Scotland.
Our services include our 24-hour Freephone Dementia Helpline – 0808 808 3000.
We are aiming to raise £1,000 to support this vital work. Your generosity can make a real difference in the lives of those affected by dementia. Together, we can help ensure that no one has to face this journey alone.
