I decided that I’m gonna train to do a 10k run in my wheelchair in June for Bipolar UK; since being diagnosed with bipolar earlier this year I’ve found the resources that bipolar uk has on their website really helpful through the diagnosis process and I’m still finding their resources helpful, like I use their mood tracker daily to track how my mood is and I’m happy to say that I’ve started getting a lot more stable and I’ve been more balanced with my mood lately.

For my friends and family that don’t know much about bipolar it’s a lifelong condition that cause extreme mood swings and episodes of extreme highs (mania), extreme lows (depression) or even mixed episodes which can last for several weeks to even months, it can also cause something called psychosis where people start being delusional and hallucinate.

My most recent manic episode lasted 2 months and as much as I enjoyed having the happiness and energy that comes with mania, I didn’t enjoy the hallucinations and delusions that I had, and I ended up in some serious trouble with the police. I’m happy to say that I’ve been started on medication now to stabilise me and I’ve been feeling a lot better now.

I’ve already started my training for to do a 10k and I think that it’s definitely something that I definitely can accomplish. I’m hoping to be able to do the Hull 10k on the 8th June 25.
