Four leading children’s charities, Acorns Children’s Hospice, Children’s Hospice South West, Helen & Douglas House, Naomi and Jack's, are partnering for a unique trek!

Story

I am taking part in the Himalayan Adventure to raise money for Naomi & Jack's, where I worked as the hospice chaplain for nearly 5 years. Through my role, I met and came alongside the most wonderful and inspiring children, young adults and families. And it's every one of these awesome people who are motivating me to embrace this challenge and to aim high with my fundraising target.

Four leading children's hospices have partnered for this unique trek - to maximise fundraising and to raise awareness of hospice care for children and young adults. The four-day trek will take us through the Lesser Himalayan range of Northern India and home of the Dalai Lama - Dharamshala.

Naomi & Jack's hospices provide specialised care and much-needed respite and support for life-limited and life-threatened children, young adults and their whole family - on the good days, the difficult days and the last days. And this care continues for as long as a family needs.

The individualised and holistic care services include: respite care, end of life care, bereavement support, emergency respite and family support.

It costs around £9million to run Naomi & Jack's for a year, with only around 10% coming from the Government. This leaves the dedicated marketing and fundraising teams the challenge of finding £8.1million a year to keep everything running - £29 could fund 1 hour of expert nursing care; £80 could fund a sibling support session; and £135 could fund a day's maintenance cost for the hydrotherapy pool.

So, please give as generously as you feel able, knowing that every penny is going to make a difference. Thank you so much for your support - it means so much.
