I'm Swimming 5 Miles in August to help the American Cancer Society fight for a world without cancer.

This is a very meaningful cause for me. When I was 25 years old, I lost my grandma who passed three months after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I have also seen the battle against cancer of many relatives and friends. Now, a dear friend of mine (my first academic mentor) is giving a brave and strenuous battle against cancer. One I have seen someone I care about fighting cancer I confront a constant feeling of frustration. I am uncomfortable not being able to do much for them.

I'm joining this campaign as a way to raise awareness and encourage all of us to donate resources towards a world without cancer.
