I’M RUNNING A MARATHON!! Out of choice. For FUN… 🤪

This is a real challenge for me, I am no Paula Radcliffe! Training is going well so far, the weekly mileage and long runs are now ramping up. Most of my runs are extremely early, in the summer it was to beat the heat but now it’s to squeeze it in before work. Some of my runs are even at 4:30am! To keep my motivation I’d been thinking about raising money for charity but couldn’t decide on which one.

Then through my role as PE lead in my school, I attended a meeting with Chippenham Sports Partnership. There was a guest who came to tell us about her brand new charity ’Game On’. This lovely, incredible lady called Fiona believes that every child should have the chance to play sport and experience the joy of being part of a team. She is working with Chippenham based clubs so that financial barriers do not stand in their ability to play. They will assist with membership fees, sports kit and equipment to families who are facing financial barriers.

I knew immediately that this was the charity I want to raise money for. This is what I am passionate about. Children having opportunities that they deserve and access to sport. I have been watching my own two children from the sidelines for years, and I’ve seen them love the sport that they play and the love for their team (even through the highs and the lows!) This has been such an important part of their lives. Teamwork, sense of belonging, friendship, fun, inclusion. This is what children need and sadly not all children are able to experience this.

I’m hoping I can raise some money for this amazing charity to support our local families. I am grateful for anything you can donate.
