Story
We are the Oncology research team at The University of Surrey. We are taking part in the Jurassic Coast Ultrachallenge 100km 16-17 May to raise money for our amazing local charity The Prostate Project who work tirelessly to support the oncology research we do in the lab. Their support goes towards research projects looking at developing novel prostate cancer vaccines/immunotherapies, understanding racial disparities in prostate cancer outcomes and the development of novel anti-androgen targeting drugs.
As around 40% of cancers could be prevented by adopting healthy lifestyles what better way to promote this message by setting a good example ourselves! We have been training hard, taking advantage of the beautiful countryside Surrey has to offer in preparation for the real challenge - starting in Corfe Castle, the route heads down to Swanage, and along through Lulworth Cove, past Durdle Door, with ups & downs to Weymouth half way and the other half the following day - Portland Bill, Chesil Beach, and on to West Bay before a finish line in the vibrant town of Bridport!
