Cycling, walking and riding 70 kilometres · 23 May 2025
I'm completing a mixture of walking, cycling, and horse riding to the distance of (at least) 70km! I want to support Age UK Cheshire as I have been a trustee for over 8 years and I know what amazing work our staff and volunteers do to support older people - combatting poverty, relieving social isolation and helping people to maintain and increase their independence. People like Viv* who says the Bright Memories days give her some freedom while her mum with dementia gets great pleasure; people like Matilda*, who secured over £280pw in benefit entitlements with the help of our volunteer advisers and is now able to manage her living costs and enjoy socialising with her friends; people like Ben*, who was profoundly lonely after losing his wife, and who struggled to process his own cancer diagnosis, but with the help of a telephone befriender was able to discuss his situation with his son, and now feels so much less alone. (* not their real names)
This special event is not only a celebration of my Big Birthday but also a reflection of my ongoing gratitude for reaching 70 years old when many others haven't had the opportunity and/or are not in such good health.
As I turn 70, please will you help me to make a lasting impact by giving whatever you can? Your donation will directly benefit older people across Cheshire, allowing us to continue our important work for years to come.
If you would like to join me for part of my challenge, please message me for information about the route and section(s) you might want to be part of - I would love to have your support!
Thank you for being a part of this special occasion!
