St Clare is my local hospice. The hospice was a godsend for a good friend of mine when her husband was ill and needed end of life care.

I started learning more about just how much they do in the community when I attended a training session for volunteers, hoping to become one myself. I had no idea just how much St Clare help out in the local community, not just at the hospice.

From this session, I became a compassionate neighbour in our area, visiting a lovely elderly lady at her home once a week, just for a chat and a cuppa. This is just one of the community projects run by St Clare.

In October 2026, I will be part of a team from St Clare, taking on the Sahara Trek 2026. We will be covering approx 50km over 3 days. Daytime temperatures can reach around 35 degrees at this time of year. After a day of trekking, we will be sleeping out in the desert where temperatures can reach around 0 degrees at night.

I can’t wait to take on the challenge for this amazing hospice, who just cannot do the incredible work they do without donations.

Over the next year I will be hosting coffee mornings, running raffles and doing whatever I can to boost my fundraising and reach my goal of £2000.
