Story

Hi everyone, as many of you may know, my family and I suffered a tremendous loss last year in November, on the 15th of November 2023 I got the worst phone in my entire life, and I found out that my Auntie Lynn had passed away, still to this day I am in denial about this news, but I want to take my grief and be productive, I have decided to set myself a challenge of walking 52 miles in the space of a month, I have chose 52 miles as it is the amount of years Lynn walked this earth and showed everyone in her path nothing but kindness, laughter and love. The charity I have chose to raise money for is FMA, which is a charity that aims to improve the lives of people who have fibromyalgia by increasing the awareness of the condition throughout the UK, and to also raise awareness and access to treatments for the illness.

For those that knew Lynn personally will know how outgoing and adventures she was, nothing stood in her way, until she got diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and she struggled with her pain levels on a daily basis, to an extent she didn’t let it get in her away and you would still find her painting fences, building gazebo’s from scratch and much more, but for those who knew her, we could tell when she was having a good or a bad day. What I want to do is raise awareness of this condition and do it in her memory, each step I take and each mile I walk, I will be thinking of all the good memories that I have of Lynn, and I will be telling my little girl how amazing her auntie was and how much love she had for not only her, but every single person in our family, all of her friends and even strangers she met in the street.

"Fibromyalgia is a recognised chronic condition of widespread pain and profound fatigue. A common illness with an est. prevalence of 2.9% - 4.7%. The pain tends to be felt as diffuse aching or burning, often described as head to toe. It may be worse at some times than at others and may also change location, usually becoming more severe in parts of the body that are used most. Symptoms often include: unrefreshing sleep, headaches, irritable bowel, cognitive disturbances, clumsiness, dizziness, allergies, sensitivity to environmental changes."
