Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and supporting me as my little legs get ready to run the Brighton Marathon this year.
In 2023, I ran the London Marathon with my best friend Grace, raising money for Macmillan, after our dear friend Richard (our Dicky) was diagnosed with eye melanoma in 2022. He cheered us on all the way round and was there at the finish line - with a pint in hand and bottle of prosecco at the ready - to celebrate.
Our Dicky exceeded anything he put his mind to, but on the 6th January 2025 we sadly lost him. A heartbreaking start to 2025 to lose someone who has been one of the most important men in both of our lives for as long as we’ve known.
Our friend. The guy who championed me to be a “strong independent Nicola”, always made me believe I deserved the world, was the perfect dinner date and gave the worlds best hugs.
We love you - so this one’s for you Dicky. 26.2 miles in your old stomping ground and the place we have all had so many happy memories together.
Without a doubt, there is no one else that I would rather cross the finish line (again) with - my twinny and absolute strength through this all. Dicky always said we were crazy, but I think we've got this, Grace.
Big thanks to my wonderful family, friends and colleagues for all of the support.
Nicola xx
