Nicola Franklin is raising money for Blood Cancer UK

Team: Let’s Go Out

Thames Bridges Trek 2026 · 12 September 2026 ·

We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

We are a team walking 25km through London because blood cancer has touched our lives in ways we never expected.

Our teammate Nicola is taking on this challenge while living with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML). Her strength, courage, and determination inspire every step we take together.

For Sarah and Annie this fight is deeply personal. Sarah’s dad/Annie’s grandad has been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, and Sarah’s aunt is living with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) — two diagnoses that have shaken their family and changed everyday life.

This is real. It’s frightening, it’s happening to our family and our friend.

Blood cancer doesn’t wait. It doesn’t care. It turns lives upside down overnight. Blood cancer brings fear, uncertainty, and endless waiting — but it also brings communities together. We’re walking to raise money for research, treatment, and support that gives families like ours hope when they need it most.

Every donation is a lifeline.Every pound is progress.

Every step is for Sarah’s dad, for her aunt, for Nicola — and for everyone facing blood cancer today.

We’re a community dedicated to beating blood cancer. We do this by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, our community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
