Nicola’s 10k for Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland

Carlisle Half & 10k for Hospice at Home · 17 March 2024 ·
Hospice at Home provides high quality care and support for adults who have palliative and end of life care needs, whilst also supporting their families and carers.
I’ve seen this first hand when in April 2016, Paul (my husband) was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) aged 39.
From June 2017 Paul, myself and our 2 children, Alfie and Lily (aged 13 & 10 at the time) were supported by a daily visit from Hospice at Home.
Paul died in December 2017. He was so grateful to the girls from Hospice at Home for their help and support and their great sense of humour. Their help meant we, as a young family, could carry on living a ‘normal’ family life for as long as possible.
Since 2018, I’ve carried out a volunteer role at Hospice at Home. I volunteer each week in the Dalston office, carrying out a variety of admin and fundraising tasks and also help with fundraising events throughout the year. And this year I’m doing another challenge event running the Carlisle 10k.
As a charity they rely on the kindness and generosity of our local community. Although they receive some funding from the NHS, they need to raise over 80% of our running costs in order to ensure that this vital help is available when needed and remains free of charge to patients and their families.
Please help us to help them support other local families in need.
