Doddie's Triple Crown 2026

Nicola Paul is raising money for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation

Team: Dawn Patrol Riders for DODDIE

Doddie's Triple Crown 2026 · 10 March 2026 to 13 March 2026 ·

Doddie's Triple Crown is the 2026 edition of Rob Wainwright's epic annual cycling challenge to raise funds for My Name'5 Doddie Foundation. The challenge will take place from Tuesday 10th - Friday 13th March and the teams will cover 800 miles.

Story

I'm a member of a wonderful inclusive cycling club, Hervelo. We ride regularly out of Edinburgh taking on a variety of routes with a café stop a prerequisite; our mantra is “Ride Hard, Eat Cake”!

I’m taking on a huge challenge in supporting My Name’5 Doddie by joining the relay team of Dawn Patrol riders tackling the 800-mile route from Melrose to Dublin. Having a childhood friend confined to a wheelchair due to MND has brought home to me just how indiscriminate and devastating a disease MND is with women impacted, as well as men. I want to do something positive to help. We’ll be cycling over four consecutive days pushing through long distances, early starts, tired legs and (highly likely!) unpredictable weather to reach Dublin.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it will make a real difference. Thank you for helping turn pedal power into hope. 🚴‍♀️💪

Dawn Patrol Riders for DODDIE are a group of riders who met through Edinburgh Dawn Patrol, an inclusive social cycling community that welcomes anyone who loves starting the day with a ride and a coffee. The Edinburgh branch was founded by Markus Stitz and brings together riders from across the city for early morning gravel and road rides.

What starts as a simple spin quickly becomes something deeper: a community built on shared effort, mutual encouragement, and the joy of turning pedals together. We ride for fitness, friendship and kindness, and in March 2026 we’re riding for something even bigger.

💛💚💙 The Doddie Aid Triple Crown Challenge

From Tuesday 10th to Friday 13th March 2026, our team will ride 800 miles in just four days, crossing four nations, to raise funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) through the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

💛💚💙 We ride to honour the legacy of Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir, whose courage and generosity continue to inspire so many. This challenge is a tribute to his fight, and a step towards better support for those living with MND.

💛💚💙 The Route: 4 Days, 4 Nations, 1 Purpose

Day 1: Melrose to Leeds

Day 2: Leeds to Gloucester

Day 3: Gloucester to Fishguard (overnight ferry to Ireland)

Day 4: Rosslare to Dublin

💛💚💙 We’ll arrive in Dublin in time for Scotland’s clash with Ireland at the Aviva Stadium, tired but proud, bonded by the miles and the mission.

💛💚💙 Why It Matters

This ride isn’t just about covering distance. It’s about making a difference. Every mile is a tribute to Doddie’s legacy, and a reminder of what cycling can do: build friendships, strengthen bodies, and bring people together for a cause that truly matters. Just like our dawn rides, it’s proof that the ride is only the beginning.
