London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 - Macular Society

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·
I've never been a runner. But that changed 6 months ago when I pulled on a pair of 'proper' running trainers (plus flamingo socks) and, as much to my own surprise as anybody else's, the miles haven't stopped ticking up since. This year I'm challenging myself to do something I never thought I would... run a half marathon!
I'm proud to be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on April 6, 2025, as a part of #TeamMacular and fundraising for the The Macular Society to Beat Macular Disease.
The objectives of The Macular Society have personal meaning for me, as my grandmother suffers greatly impaired vision as a result of macular disease. Macular disease is the leading cause of sight loss in the UK, affecting around 300 individuals every day. It not only takes away one's vision but also erodes confidence and hinders the ability to engage in everyday activities.
To combat macular disease, we must invest significantly in research now. Our goal is clear: to discover a cure or develop treatments that can halt its progression. The Macular Society stands as a beacon of hope, dedicated to alleviating the fear and isolation that comes with this condition through world-class research and unparalleled support.
Medical research is the pathway to finding the solutions we desperately need for future generations. I'm supporting this vital mission by running on behalf of, and fundraising for, The Macular Society. Together, we can make a difference and bring us closer to a world free from the burdens of sight loss associated with macular disease.
