Story

✨In Memory of Roderick Beattie – Glen and Nicole go sky high for aware ni ! ✨

Myself and Glen will be taking part in a 15,000 ft skydive in support of AWARE NI—Northern Ireland’s dedicated charity for those living with depression and bipolar disorder. AWARE is the only organisation in Northern Ireland working exclusively to support individuals affected by these mental health conditions, and their work is a lifeline for many.

OUR STORY : on the 19:01:17 , My family received the phone call that no family ever should , and until it’s you on the other end of the phone it’s hard to imagine the pit your heart goes into when you hear your mummy having to answer that phone call …. relaying to you that your uncle had taken his own life . It’s true what they say you never realise the devastation of others ,until it’s on your own doorstep . I was just 12 years old , a little girl who thought the world of her uncle , now having to learn what suicide was and why anyone would make that decision, Losing him changed my world. He wasn’t just a statistic. He was a son, a father, a brother and an uncle… my family. I couldn’t save him , but maybe with your help we could help raise enough funds and awareness to save someone!

If you’ve ever watched someone you love suffer with their mental health — or if you’ve struggled yourself — I want you to hear this: there is hope. You are not alone.

Organisations like AWARE NI offer a lifeline to people in crisis. They create safe spaces for people to open up, be heard, and get help without judgment — and that’s something every single person deserves.

In memory of my uncle, and in support of everyone still fighting, my partner Glen and I are doing something a little crazy — we’re jumping out of a plane from 15,000 feet. We’re skydiving to raise awareness and funds, because we believe mental health — especially for men and young people — needs to be talked about more, not less.

1 in 6 people experience mental health challenges — it’s closer to home than most of us think. And the truth is, too many men suffer in silence. They feel they have to “man up,” “stay strong,” or just “deal with it.” But strength isn’t silence. Strength is asking for help.

So if you’re someone who’s struggling — please, reach out. And if you’re someone who can support — even in the smallest way — it means the world 💓🥹
