Office Relay · 10 October 2022

Leaving a life in sport can be really tough. Not all sportspeople win gold medals or international caps and, when their sporting careers come to an end, most will need to start a second career. For some, this transition can lead to a loss of identity, a lack of purpose and mental health struggles.

Story

Each year since 2020 Nielsen Sports UK have taken part in a team relay, this year will be difference for two reasons-

1) As we are now part of the Nielsen Media UK office, we want all of the London office teams to get involved

2) We are back in real life! We'll be passing the baton in our office using a static bike and rowing machine

From Monday Oct 10th at 9am, we aim to cycle and row contiously from 9am-5pm every day until Friday at 5pm.

The annual relay is a D&I initiative to bring the team together and raise money for good cause. This year to link in with World Mental Health Day on Oct 10th, we are raising money for Switch The Play, a fantastic UK based charity who support athletes through transitioning into life outside of sport, a tough time for many.

Any donation, small or large is very much appreciated by the Nielsen London team.

More on Switch The Play:

The Switch the Play Foundation is the UK’s only charity dedicated to supporting all sportspeople to successfully transition into life outside of sport. This enables them to fulfil their potential through and beyond sport.

It is our mission to empower sportspeople to be their best through and beyond sport by providing person-centred training, wellbeing and transition support.

Leaving a life in sport can be really tough. Not all sportspeople win gold medals, international caps nor million-pound contracts and when their sporting careers come to an end most will need to start a second career. The evidence shows that for some, this transition can also lead to a loss of identity, a lack of purpose and financial and mental health struggle.
