Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm running the Basalt Breaks Giants Causeway Coast marathon in September to raise vital funds to go towards the outdoor playground re-surfacing project at Glasswater Primary School. The area is currently unsafe for the children to even use, so it is of utmost importance that this project be completed as soon as possible to bring the area back into use. The playground is a very important part of school life, where new friendships are made and where new games and skills are learned.
Unfortunately this is an expensive outlay, with the total cost of the project based on current quotations being £17,000.
Glasswater Primary School is my daughter's school and their motto is "A small school with a big heart"
For my own part in this journey I resonate with this small local school, as I myself grew up in a small primary school when I didn't know the first thing about school budgets or have to worry about an area of the playground not being safe to use.
I used to run, and have only recently this year got back into it. I have however only ever completed half marathons to date, so I am attempting my first ever marathon aged 41 (at the time of the event) so this will be a massive challenge for me. I'm told quite often that this is one of the toughest marathons to enter, "would I not be better going for an easier one to start with". Anyone who knows me will know I don't do things in halves.
I would be truly grateful for whatever support you can give me but more importantly for my charity of choice. I know by supporting the charity and me you will be helping a small local primary school in Crossgar that helps to shape the lives of many young children in the surrounding area.
