We are a local charity committed to supporting anyone affected by cancer

Commencing in the early hours of 5th July, and completing within 24 hours, I will be taking on the British Three Peaks challenge to raise money for FORCE Cancer Charity.

I am joining a team that includes colleagues from my business and those of other companies. We will start as a team and we will finish as a team, all in aid of raising money to support those affected by cancer.

A great challenge for an even greater charity that positively impacts people's lives, at a time when they are most in despair.

If you can support this challenge and cause, I am hugely grateful. If not, then your well wishes and good luck will be equally welcome!

Further details, as follows:

RGB Recruitment and AtkinsRéalis are teaming up to take on The National Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours, in aid of FORCE Cancer Charity.

Considered one of Britain’s toughest outdoor challenges, we’ll have just 24 hours to climb the 3 highest mountains in the UK!

After a full day of travelling from Devon up to Scotland, we’ll get some well needed rest at our bunkhouse ready to set off early in the morning and begin the challenge at Ben Nevis, which at 1,344 metres (4,409ft) is the highest of the three peaks.

The average time it takes to climb Ben Nevis is 7/8 hours, we’ll have just 5 hours to get up and down!

From there, we will head south back into England to the Lake District and climb Scafell Pike (978 m, 3,209 ft).

The final of the three mountains is Snowdon in Wales, standing at 1,085 m, 3,560 ft, which we’ll be faced with climbing in total darkness!

The distance between the 3 mountains is about 480 miles (772km). This means 12 hours or so of driving time, leaving us with just 12 hours to get up and down all 3 peaks.

Only around 40% of people manage to complete this challenge in less than 24 hours, with 50% achieving successful completion between 24 and 25.5 hours.

So why are we doing this? Sadly, almost everyone has their own stories of cancer-related grief, which is why it means so much for us to to support FORCE Cancer Charity in their incredible work to help all those affected.

FORCE are an independent charity that provides free support and information to anyone affected by cancer. They are a local charity based in Exeter that offer counselling, group support, complementary therapies, benefits advice, specialist physiotherapy and exercise guidance and other health & wellbeing support. Their services are available to cancer patients and their families. Alongside the support, FORCE funds local research and buys equipment to improve patient care.

Every step you take on the Three Peaks Challenge is one step forward in helping someone come to terms with a cancer diagnosis. It’s one step closer for a cancer patient to not feel alone. It’s one step closer for a family member to better understand what their loved one is going through. It’s one step closer to helping someone get back on their feet, and to equip them with the tools to help them move forward with their lives - Olly Watts, FORCE .

Helping to raise £10,000 would make a huge difference to their services in the community, it is equivalent to providing 200 complementary therapies or 100 counselling sessions for patients and their families.

Any amount donated is be greatly appreciated!
