Story
I have had Long Covid for nearly 6 years off and on.
It's wreaked havoc with my life at times and been tough for those around me. It has affected my mood, memory and ability to work and help at home. I found the false memories and energy collapses a particular treat. I think it's fair to say my wife and kids have known a different version for me to the person I usually am. I am lucky that mine is now quite intermittent and I have made a lot of progress. I have had it nowhere near as bad as many.
Covid issues might sound like they are a dark chapter from the past, but for many that is not the case and there is still relatively little understood about it.
So this year our families are doing our walk to raise money for Long Covid UK, a charity set up by and for people living with or affected by Long Covid to reduce the impact and improve the lives of all those affected by driving long-term, systemic change.
Last year was the first year I was able to do nearly all the walking again and it was actually psychologically a big turning point for me. I hope to do the same this time as my health is currently having a good patch. Either way there are nearly 20 of us taking part from teens to 60's in age from across our family.
It is a small charity so every £ will be very welcome if you can spare anything.
(NOTE: beware the suggested service charge that Just Giving propose which IMHO default to too high. On the donation summary page, where it says 'support JustGiving Services', choose 'enter custom amount', choose your own level).
