Story
They say……. Believe you can, and you’re halfway there…… OK, so let’s go with that theory & I only have to run 10.5km. I’m totally up for that!
But would I only run half the distance now I’ve chosen to take on this long challenge? Not a chance!
After being a bit of a fair-weather runner for many years, I never imagined I would have been able to run that distance & was very reluctant to agree when I was asked.
After a bit of a word with myself, I went for a run, came back & made my mind up……. I was going to do it.
And the training began. So far I’ve had some bad runs, where I’ve got back home & been really annoyed with myself for not running as far or as well as the last run. But I’ve had more amazing runs where I’ve got back home & been on a high. My legs have hurt, my hips have ached, my body has been tired & I needed to go to bed at 8pm on the night, but I have felt so good from it.
So… who wouldn’t choose to run 21.1km for fun!!!!
Through my work, there are women inspiring each other every day & I am one of those looking up to my peers. This is why I am a member of Women in Revenues & Enforcement (WIRE), an inspiring group, dedicated to the empowerment of women within my work environment. I am proud to be running on behalf of WIRE in support of their chosen charity, The Worst Girl Gang Ever Foundation.
I’ve never needed any support from a group like ‘The Worst Girl Gang Ever’, but I know a few family members & friends who have been in a position where they would have benefitted from this support. I think this needs more attention & support to be able to fund more research into these causes & funding into giving such wonderful support to every woman going through the difficult time.
