Story
Perinatal Mental Health Borders is an invaluable support service/charity providing psychological therapies and support to mothers (parents) in the scottish borders struggling with early motherhood. They provided me with support when I was struggling with motherhood and needed it most. Registered charity - SC041376.
My Story..
”Motherhood is the greatest thing and the hardest thing”
There is not one thing in the world that I personally agree with more.
During pregnancy I could never imagine the rollercoaster that awaited me postnatally.
Long story short, my birth plan went completely out the window and an emergency C-section was how our wonderful daughter Ruby entered the world & to this day she remains a whirlwind just like her birth.
Although i loved my daughter dearly, i initially struggled to form the strong bond i imagined (+ society) we would have instantly. This along with other symptoms which outlived the usual period- low mood, tearful, lack of appetite, lack of interest, anxiety + aggitation were having a severe impact on me and my family. As someone who has on/off suffers from depression, i recognised the symptoms and reached out to my health visitor who referred me on to perinatal mental health borders (formally PND Borders).
I cannot express enough how much they helped me through an extremely tough time, and i genuinely have no idea where I would be without their input. I received 12 weeks of ‘counselling’ once a week, aswell as a free creche place for my daughter during these sessions when needed.
This hour of my week was one where i could be completely open and honest about how i was feeling with no judgement just support, advice and insight.
Their support has completely changed my life & strengthened my relationship with my daughter.
