There's things I like more than running, but sitting on my couch and eating cake isn't worthy of your support.

Cure DM is though!

Myotonic Dystrophy is a muscular disease which makes things like swallowing or breathing difficult. For most people living with the disease running is an impossibility.

Reflecting on this made me realise that having the option to do The Great North Run is a privelege in itself, so i'm getting off the couch and embracing the blood, sweat and tears.

...and the chafe (any advice on which is most welcome).

Every penny raised will help to sooth my temporary pain, but it will ensure that the charity can keep on running.

CureDM is a charity dedicated to providing support to those living with Myotonic Dystrophy, their families and caregivers. They do this by organising an annual 'Families Day' get-together in July each year, as well as smaller mid year events.

They facilitate research into DM, and are deeply involved from clinical trial design to representing the DM community to the regulators. They support and fund research in many forms, and publish up to date medical and treatment pipelines, ensuring accurate and up to date information reaches the community!

CureDM are passionate about raising awareness within the scientific and medical community via information sheets, posters and guidelines, and also to the community and public. They are extremely proud of the part played in organising the annual DM Awareneness day, which is a worldwide campaign on September 15th each year.
