Story
On Sunday 13th September, I will be taking part in the Great North Run, the world’s biggest half marathon, with over 60,000 runners taking on the 13.1 mile course, to raise money for Rape Crisis Tyneside and Northumberland.
Rape Crisis provides specialist support to women across Tyne & Wear and Northumberland who have been affected by sexual violence or abuse at any point in their lives. Their work offers advocacy, counselling, practical support and, most importantly, a safe place to be heard without judgement. They won’t judge, they don’t criticise, they listen.
Like many others, I understand how experiences can shape confidence, identity and the way you move through the world. Running this half marathon is my way of turning difficult experiences into something positive, powerful and hopeful for those who may feel unheard or alone in what they have been through.
Demand for these services continues to grow, and charities like Rape Crisis rely heavily on donations to continue supporting survivors when they need it most.
Training for 13.1 miles will be a huge challenge, but every mile will be driven by the belief that survivors deserve support, dignity, understanding and the opportunity to heal.
Any donation, no matter the size, would genuinely mean so much and will help make a real difference.
Thank you so much for your support.
