Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Those of you that know me well will know that over the past 3 years I have have suffered considerably with my health. Over time this has meant I lost a lot of weight, was very fatigued, been in considerable pain and in the end stepped away from the job I loved as head teacher.

Some of you will know that I was diagnosed with severe colonic inertia which has meant I had no natural bowel function. (I know this maybe too much information for a lot of people) But I feel it is important to talk about this. It is a rare condition. It has been a long a scary journey. With positive FIT tests, showing blood in my stools, a fast track cancer pathway, endless scans, colonoscopy's, months of irrigation, weekends spent in agony after a lot of laxatives and pushing through bad days so I can leave the house and carry on with any element of normality.

I am doing this challenge as I now have Stella, my stoma. Stella is going giving me my groove back and my life back. So I am working hard to get back on my feet and Stella are going to walk 25k along the Jurassic coast to raise money for Bowel Research UK.

When I had my surgery in October it was a struggle to see a way back to normality. I returned home unable to walk more than a few steps. Training for this is helping me get back on my feet, build my strength back and raise fund for this amazing charity.
