Story
22 Miles. One Night. One Head Torch - For Nepal.
On 26 September, Alex and I (Nila) are taking on the Nimsdai Foundation’s Dusk Till Dawn challenge—a 22-mile overnight endurance walk along the Dorset coastline & clifftops, from Hamworthy in Poole to Hengistbury Head.
And this isn't just a 22-mile walk.
We’ll tackle all 21 beach access paths, climbing from the beach to the clifftop and back down again each time. Along the way, we’ll earn our 14 Peaks and 7 Summits, Dorset-style.
Setting off after sunset (10.30 pm), we’ll walk through the night with headtorches lighting the way, the sea beside us and, hopefully, a few stars overhead — before watching the sunrise from Hengistbury Head.
Why Nepal?
This one is personal for me.
I’ve spent a lot of time trekking in Nepal. The last was a month-long trek around the Everest region. A time when I was healing from a deep loss, and the experience stayed with me in ways I never expected.
The mountains were extraordinary, but the kindness and generosity of the Nepalese people really touched my heart - the healing I needed came from people who often have very little themselves, yet give so much.
I’ve wanted to find a way to give something back ever since.
The Nimsdai Foundation
...established by the late mountaineering legend & world record breaker, Nimsdai Purja, supports communities in Nepal (watch 14 Peaks on Netflix, and you'll be inspired too).
With the devastating events Nepal has faced recently, supporting this cause feels even more important.
So, if you can spare a few pounds, please sponsor Alex and me.
It’s a small way to turn our slightly ridiculous night-time adventure into something that can make a difference for people and communities who have given me so much.
22 miles. 21 climbs. One night. One sunrise. And a whole lot of love for Nepal. ❤️
Thank you
With Moonbeams
Nila & Alex
