Mosaic is a Dorset wide charity offering individual and family support for bereaved children and young people and those who are facing the death of a loved one. Mosaic also provides Residential Weekends, Activity Days and Social events which help young people feel less isolated and alone.

Story

In 2022, our lives were turned upside down. Our funny, kind, caring boy Trey took his own life, aged just 15.

Tragically our friends Sally and Mike lost their son Riley Ellis aged 17 just 3 months earlier.

I am running the London Marathon in April 2025 in memory of Trey and Riley and feel this is a good opportunity to raise some money for a local charity Mosaic. I’ve never done anything like this before!… but was inspired by Riley’s dad Mike and my best friend Chris that ran it this year raising money for young minds and Gully’s Place.

Mosaic is a local charity founded in 2007 to help families in Dorset deal with the impact of a death, by providing qualified counsellors who meet and talk with the child or young person, helping them understand and deal with feelings of grief and anxiety.

Mosaic have not only supported our daughter Nia, Riley’s younger brother Alfie and other family members but many of the boys friends and throughout both the schools.

Worryingly Mosaic are in desperate need of funds.

Unfortunately the demand for the service is now outstripping Mosaic’s ability to provide the free access to counsellors.

The charity does receive some Local Authority funding to support some children but this only amounts to 15% of the funding needed to run the charity.

They desperately need to raise £100,000 this year in order to continue to be able provide care, advice and support.

They’ve had a 47 per cent increase in the number of children and young people being referred for help, compared with the same period in 2023.

We are so grateful for the support they have given our families and the boys friends and hope we can help even a little towards their target to enable them to continue and be there to help other local families.

Thankyou so much for any support

Allan
