Living positive with MND

Joanna Chadwick - Butler is raising money for Motor Neurone Disease Association
Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Andrew as decided to jump out of a plane (skydive). The event is taking place Sunday 3rd May in Lancaster. Please support Andrew and help raise funds for MND.

Our Journey with MND

A story of strength, hope, and the power of making precious memories

Andrew's Diagnosis

On 26th June 2025, our lives changed forever when my husband Andrew was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) at the age of 53. The words brought devastation, shock, and disbelief. It’s hard to imagine how three letters—”MND”—can completely transform your world.

I first became aware of MND through watching a documentary about Rob Burrow, the rugby player who was diagnosed with the disease. Never did I imagine that this knowledge would become so personally relevant.

“Life’s turned upside down, but we’ve chosen to live for the future and make so many precious memories together.”

Living with MND

In November unfortunately Andrew had a fall after loosing balance and his legs giving way a visit to A and E was necessary

There as been a couple more incidents over the last couple of months however we overcome the difficulties with a positive approach.

Andrew gets frustrated not be able to do the things he use to do but concentrate on the things he can do

At the present time strength in his arms and legs have become weaker taking up to half an hour to get dressed

We live each day positive making memories and awareness of MNAs there is no cure for MND it’s all about making “precious memories” and that is all we can do now as we don't know how long we have left
