North Wirral Branch's fundraiser for Garfield

North Wirral Branch CatsProtection is raising money for Cats Protection
We share our lives with cats. They bring happiness to millions of us every day. Yet too many cats don’t get the care and kindness they deserve. At Cats Protection we stand up for every cat to make life better for cats and the people who care for them.

Story

Meet Garfield !

Garfield came to us in March, along with three other cats as his owner went into long term care having been diagnosed with dementia. At first Garfield was a bit shy but soon came out of his shell and loves being groomed by our volunteers.

Our North Wirral Volunteers noticed that Garfield’s eyes appeared sore and upon veterinary examination, it was found that his right eye was not producing enough tears, and a small corneal ulcer was present. They also noticed he had a condition where the eyelid turns inward, (called an entropion) causing irritation to the eye surface and he was started on twice-daily eye drops for two weeks. Once the ulcer had healed, Garfield underwent surgery to correct the entropion, helping to prevent further discomfort and protect his eye health long-term.

Thanks to our amazing volunteers, Garfield is recovering well, and is back to his purring self!

Our vet bills run into £1000’s every month, we don’t receive any government funding and are reliant on people’s generosity. Your donation will help cats like Garfield on their way to a healthier and happier life. We realise that times are difficult at the moment, so we appreciate your kindness even more.

Cats Protection help more cats than any other organisation and we want to help millions more. We are a dedicated community of passionate employees, volunteers, supporters and partners, working together to make life better for millions of cats and the people who care for them.

We are the voice of cats in society and we speak up for their protection.

We’re working towards a society where every cat is treated with kindness and respect.

Making a better life for cats, because life is better with cats.
