A new year and a new start for Taco.

Taco came into our care at just 6 weeks old. He had been found on the side of the road by a member of the public, who was concerned that taco seemed injured.

Taco was handed into an emergency vet clinic in Belfast, and the vets contacted the Northern Ireland Cat Centre. Luckily, we were able to help Taco and bring him to the Cat Centre. Along with food, warmth and TLC from our staff and volunteers, we were able to get Taco the veterinary care he desperately needed.

We found Taco had irreparable damage to his front right leg, due to a break in his brachial nerve. He also had a swollen face, although we will never know how he sustained his injuries.

Because of his injuries, Taco required a full amputation of his front right leg. Without this, he would have sustained further injuries and struggled to live a normal life.

Taco stayed in our care for 2 months and in that time his cost of care exceeded £1000. Taco and was a friendly and happy kitten following his surgery and his time in the cat centre allowed him to thrive in a home environment.

When taco was ready for rehoming it wasn’t long before he found his forever home with Rosa, before christmas. Rosa let us know that Taco is now called Quark, and is already ‘firm friends’ with their other cat, Kryten. ‘Kryten is very gentle with him and they follow each other from room to room, its so cute’.
