Northern Ireland's winter free prize draw for Cats Protection

Northern Ireland Cat Centre is raising money for Cats Protection
We share our lives with cats. They bring happiness to millions of us every day. Yet too many cats don’t get the care and kindness they deserve. At Cats Protection we stand up for every cat to make life better for cats and the people who care for them.

Story

Help us support cats this winter

To be in with the chance of winning a Christmas hamper, Christmas bath set or Joxer restaurant voucher, follow the instructions below to enter our Winter Free Prize competition, while helping to make a better life for cats.

Cats like Samson.

1 year old Samson was found wondering alone at a recycling centre by a kind-hearted member of the public. We don’t know how or why he ended up there, however we quickly learnt that Samson is blind, and we don’t know how he would have survived if he hadn’t been found and brought to our care.

Thankfully we were able to take Samson into our care at the Northern Ireland Cat Centre and give him the TLC and veterinary care that he badly needed. Initially, he was understandably quiet, withdrawn and scared. Samson was worse for wear and although he had both eyes intact when he came into care, they were abnormal, non-functioning and had the potential for recurrent eye infections. Under these circumstances it was decided in Samson’s best interest and welfare to enucleate the eyes.

Cats Protection's vets were able to perform bilateral enucleation of his eyes, and he has taken it all in his stride. Despite his newfound appearance, Samson is a much happier and healthier cat and is like a changed kitten from the one that initially came into our care. He is much happier, brighter and interactive; he loves human contact and purrs away when being stroked. He also loves to play with a jingly toy ball that he can listen to and chase.

During his time at the centre, Samson’s cost of veterinary care totalled over £500. This doesn’t include the cost of daily food, shelter and care.

We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the generosity of people like you.
