In 2003, I George Héroys was born with a life threatening heart condition . I underwent open heart surgery at just 6 days old. My journey is a testament to the life-saving care provided by the incredible cardiac unit at Southampton General Hospital, supported by Heartbeat.

Heartbeat, formerly ‘Wessex Heartbeat,’ was founded in 1992 with a mission to support individuals diagnosed with congenital and cardiovascular diseases. The charity primarily aids the Wessex Cardiac Unit at Southampton General Hospital by supplying specialized equipment, services, and facilities to assist patients and their families throughout their cardiac journey. Partially thanks to ‘Heartbeat’ Southampton General Hospital’s cardiac unit is one of the best in the country aiding 3.5 million people.
