The Big Appeal has been relaunched to raise a further £1.5million to fund the following:

Neonatal Redesign:

Nottingham hospital’s Neonatal Redesign Programme is a £32 million project to expand facilities for the care of premature and poorly newborn babies from across the East Midlands. At QMC, this will increase capacity by more than double – boosting the number of cots from 17 to 38. At Nottingham, we will be able to treat more babies, and keep families closer to together while they are in hospital.

1. Homely elements in parent/family areas, parent and family accommodation

2. Woodland themed decoration in clinical areas

3. Fingerprint access to NICU for parents

4. Updates to parent and family accommodation, including TVs, phones, comfortable bedding, mini fridges, homely touches

5. A welcoming entrance

6. Dedicated ultrasound machine for radiologists

7. Interactive sensory floor projector for family area

Children’s Outpatients

Children’s Outpatients is an old and outdated department, which needs reconfiguring and updating. By reconfiguring the area and investing in state-of-the-art design, Children’s Outpatients could be transformed for patients and their families being cared for in Nottingham.

1. Two new play and sensory rooms

2. Age-appropriate play facilities for children between 0-18 years old, including games consoles, arts and crafts materials, books and other toys

3. Additional clinic rooms to cope with high demands of a busy Children’s department

4. Complete redecoration of Children’s Outpatients

5. State-of-the-art technology including a new booking system to help improve flexibility with appointments

Play Areas

1. Play areas both inside and outside, to inspire and entertain both patients and their families

2. More play specialists, to support young patients and their families when they are in hospital

3. Toys, games and other entertainment which is age appropriate to different young patients

4. Books and reading materials, to help children feel calm, settled and at ease when in hospital
