Gillian's fundraiser for Motor Neurone Disease Association

Coffee Morning · 10 May 2025
As some of you may already know, my brother Norman Baird, has recently been diagnosed with Motor Neurone’s Disease (MND). MND has been in the headlines during recent times with sports personalities such as the late Rob Burrow from the Leads Rhinos and the late Doddie Weir, Scotland Rugby International who both suffered from this disease.
MND is life-shortening and there is no cure, and whilst the disease will progress, symptoms can be managed to help achieve the best possible quality of life for as long as possible. MND affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time. It can affect adults of any age, but is more likely to affect people over 50.
As a family, we understand how important fundraising can help a charity such as MND, including a continued research programme to look at new and improved ways of carrying out clinical trials as well as advances in technology, milestone discoveries and new partnerships are now helping the MND association understand what causes the disease and translate that into potential treatments.
With that in mind, we are organising a Coffee Morning to kick start some much-needed fundraising for this amazing charity. If you are free, and would like to show your support to MND charity, then we would be delighted to see you on Saturday 10th May at Newry Hockey Club from 11.00 – 13.00 hrs. We appreciate that everyone may not able to attend, but if you would like to make a donation, then you are welcome to do so via this JustGiving page.
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page sponsoring the MND Association. Every penny we raise will make a difference to people like Norman with MND across Northern Ireland and wider GB. Together, we share common ground to understand, treat and - ultimately - defeat MND."
Once you donate, JustGiving will send your money directly to the MND Association. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure, your details are safe - they'll never sell them or send unwanted emails.
Thank you,
The Baird Family
