Turning Blue Monday Bright · 16 January 2023

Blue Monday is thought to be the day when many people struggle with their mental health, after Christmas. The Headlight Project want to raise awareness of mental health issues and give people a reason to smile with their campaign to turn it bright!

Story

You may have heard of the day Blue Monday, the third Monday in January. It is often when there are most absences from work, days off school and generally a day when, with the Christmas festivities a fading memory, people may be feeling low and struggling with their mental health.

In 2022, the Headlight Project came up with the idea to turn it from blue to bright particularly bright orange - with an awareness campaign.

We had such a positive response to the campaign in 2022 that we are planning to make it even bigger and brighter in 2023. The idea is to make everyone feel happier but also to acknowledge those down days, what we can do to feel better and how important it is to talk. We are asking you to dress up in Orange, or something bright, do a physical activity, make cakes, sing & dance, get together with work colleagues or friendsits entirely up to you what you do! Any funds raised will help the charity in its mission to reduce suicide numbers in the Teesside Area.
