Ten Pounds to Change a Life

NTT DATA UK and Ireland Charity is raising money for Street Child
NTT DATA UK&I and Street Child are working together to support caregivers in Sierra Leone's most marginalised communities to start or grow a small business, enabling them to enrol their children in school and keep them there in the long-term.

Story

During our visit to Sierra Leone to see the new NTT DATA–funded secondary school, we met seven young boys sitting quietly under a tree during school hours. When we asked why they weren’t in class, we were told their parents simply couldn’t afford the basics required for primary school — a uniform, a notebook, and a pen.

The total cost? Just **£10 per child**.

That moment changed everything. With support from Street Child, we were able to cover the cost for those seven boys. Within a week, they proudly walked through the school gates in their new uniforms — ready to learn, to laugh, and to dream.

But their story is not unique. Across Sierra Leone, **thousands of children** face the same barrier — families who desperately want to educate their children but simply can’t afford the essentials.

That’s why NTT DATA, in partnership with Street Child, has launched the campaign **“Ten Pounds to Change a Life.”**

Every £10 raised will provide a child with a uniform, a notebook, and a pen — giving them access to education and a chance at a brighter future.

🏫 Our Impact So Far

For the past 18 months, NTT DATA employees have been fundraising to build a secondary school in Sierra Leone — now complete and serving 192 children, with new classrooms, wash facilities, and a water well.

This next campaign continues that journey — ensuring even more children have the chance to learn.
