Story

Hi Everyone,

Firstly, I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated to my fundraiser supporting the UCLH Cancer Fund. Your love, support, and generosity mean more than words can say. For those who haven’t yet, there is still time to be part of this journey, and every single donation truly makes a difference!

I wanted to give you a little life update. The past few months haven’t been the easiest, but preparing for this run has kept us going. I took part in a 10k Run the Runway in Medellín, Colombia to prepare for the Royal Parks Half Marathon taking place on 12th October.

As many of you know, sadly Christian’s treatment has not worked out the way we had hoped. His cancer is now terminal, it has spread to his spine and, after surgery in May, has returned to his liver. Sharing this is not easy, but it’s part of why this run means so much to me.

As you know, I am dedicating my run to my beloved husband, Christian, but also to everyone facing a battle, a tough time, or a loss. Every mile I run is for love, for strength, and for those who cannot. ❤️

That’s why I’m choosing to turn my pain into purpose. I’m running to raise money for The Cancer Fund at UCLH, a charity that has a direct impact on the lives of patients like my husband. Donations help to:

- Provide essential equipment and renovations to improve care.-

- Offer supportive services to make hospital stays a little easier.

- Train and support medical staff, giving them the resources to provide the best care possible.

From UCLH Cancer Fund:

Over 14,000 people every year are treated for cancer at University College Hospital, and this number is rising annually. Our patients come from across the UK though mostly from north London, Hertfordshire and Essex.

University College Hospital aims to ensure that all people with cancer, and their families and carers receive a world-class service from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. To achieve this aim and to support our patients, we have created the University College Hospital Cancer Fund which assists with important areas of work above and beyond what the NHS is able to provide.
