Lorraine Hamilton became part of the Nudge family on the 1st of November 2022 following an online interview 2 weeks prior. Lorraine was superb throughout the interview despite the awkwardness that some people experience when not having face-to-face contact.

When the interview had finished and Lorraine had logged off, we just looked at each other and said “She’s the one”!!

We couldn’t wait to have Lorraine onboard and in no time, she had struck up so many friendships and gained respect from her peers. People really took to Lorraine because she was so approachable and open-minded. Nothing was off limits, she made people feel so at ease and instantly felt her trust and support.

Lorraine was a truly remarkable person. Her kindness, warmth and genuine care for others will always be remembered. Her infectious laughter and positive spirit brought joy to everyone around her.

In August 2023 Lorraine was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. This was a complete shock to us all and unfortunately, due to the aggressive nature of Lorraine's condition, we would never get to see Lorraine again. Lorraine passed away peacefully on the 16th of September surrounded by her loving family.

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case.

Pancreatic Cancer UK is dedicated to taking on this injustice using every possible means. They're supporting people with pancreatic cancer now, campaigning, and funding vital research to transform the future. Help them to make the breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need.

We are going to raise money for this great cause in memory and celebration of Lorraine's life. 19 of us, her colleagues, will run or walk every day in February. We will try to cover a distance of over 1000 miles between us. We are spread across the UK and each of us will do our part to build up the miles. Each person's efforts will be a time that we will be able to remember Lorraine.

"In the brightest of days and darkest of nights, Lorraine will be a constant around us".
