Story

Hello everyone, I’m Nurani Walia.

I have had a condition called Spina Bifida from birth, resulting in me using a wheelchair from the age of 5. Since then I have faced many obstacles including scoliosis leading to spinal fusion surgery. Through determination and perseverance I have proved that having a physical disability doesn’t mean giving up on your dreams.

My biggest cheerleader is my husband Sam. Having done both the London and Brighton marathon, he has inspired me to take on my next challenge.

With that in mind, I am beyond excited (and incredibly nervous) to say that I’ve secured a place in the 2026 London Marathon where I will be self propelling 26.2 miles for Whizz Kidz. Whizz Kids were an instrumental part of my childhood and I can’t wait to play my part towards ensuring all disabled children can lead independent lives and reach their potential!

Here is where it gets real… I think the last time I wheeled a 5K was a year ago, so I am terrified of the thought of wheeling anything further! However, this means so much to me. I want to show support for an amazing charity but also to prove to myself that I can do this!

I’ll be sharing my journey on socials and I would really appreciate the support, be it a donation or words of encouragement.

Thank you for reading this and see you at the finish line. Let’s do this! 👩🏽‍🦽
