RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

Our community are aiming to reach the overall target of just over £100k as part of New Quay's Shannon lifeboat appeal. The appeal will be going towards essential crew training and equipment delivery.

As a Crew we are embarking on the challenge of a 24hr indoor rowing event - to be held on 22nd/23rd April 2023, we aim to achieve this by utilising 2 rowing machines and have scheduled crew to cover the 24hr time period between 13:48pm on Saturday and 13:48pm on Sunday. 13-48 is the hull number of our Shannon Class All Weather Lifeboat, we feel its a fitting time to start/complete our challenge.

The event will take place at New Quay Memorial Hall, doors open from 1pm. Refreshments available between 1pm and 5:30pm on Saturday and 12 Noon - 2:30pm on Sunday. Public activities are being scheduled for a 3rd rowing machine so keep an eye out for updates. The hall will then be closed to all but rowers through the night, with regular updates going out through our social media channels.

We hope that with your help we can smash our £5000 crew target towards the larger appeal!
