Story
On Tuesday 30th June I’ll be playing 100 holes at the Gogs on the Old Course to raise money for a cause that means a lot to me as a young person.
I’m fundraising for Centre 33 - who support young carers and young people across Cambridgeshire. Since 1981, they’ve helped over 50,000 young people, offering a safe space, someone to talk to, and practical support when things get tough. Young carers often take on huge responsibilities at home - caring for family members while trying to keep up with school, work, and everyday life. Overall, it can be isolating and overwhelming existence, and Centre 33 relies on donations to keep going.
These Young carers often deal with pressures most of us don’t even see, often quietly and without external support. Having a service like Centre 33 enables support with both a young persons emotional and practical needs whilst navigating the challenges of being a young carer.
Undoubtedly, my 100 holes in a day will be a huge challenge (even for someone who plays as much golf as I do!) - you only have to look at MyEG to realise this. But, this challenge is nothing compared to the daily hurdles young carers face on a daily basis, and hence feels incredibly worthwhile.
Thank you for reading this, and I would be incredibly grateful for any donations/ spreading the message to support this amazing and important cause.
