Traditional Judaism for modern Jews, supporting a flourishing network of welcoming Jewish communities in the UK. This includes, Noam Masorti Youth, our Zionist youth movement. A welcoming, and dynamic community that has been empowering young people to learn, lead, and grow for over thirty years.

Story

10 years ago, there were inclusive, gender egalitarian Jewish spaces, and there were spaces that used the traditional liturgy. But nowhere that did both. So a group of Noam graduates created a Kabbalat Shabbat service that did just that, and called themselves Ohel Moed.

In the decade since, Ohel Moed has expanded far beyond Kabbalat Shabbat services, into a vibrant and impressive community that remains pioneering and inclusive.

Ohel Moed is a hub of learning and skills building. For Shavuot Tikkun Leil, we offer 2 min, 10 min and 45 min presentation slots so it is easier to get involved. For Megillat Esther, we split a chapter into bitesize chunks to encourage first time leyners. At our High Holy Day services, our break out spaces give people an opportunity to connect in different ways to the Yom Tov, themselves and each other.

Ohel Moed has given so much to the London Jewish community, but it can give more. That’s why we’re bringing Rabbi Yael Jaffe on board as our first paid professional dedicated to accelerating Ohel Moed’s future. It’s why we’re investing in a set of chumashim so everyone can follow the Torah reading during services. It’s why we’re hiring bigger venues more often. You can make all of this happen, by making a donation today.

Please consider giving a monthly donation! Over two years it really adds up. Also, you'll notice our committee members have kindly agreed not to be anonymous in their donations, because we know that knowing other people who have donated helps others feel more comfortable - no pressure, but we support anyone else who feels able to do the same.

Here's what your donation could do:

£5/month over two years is £120 and could allow 3 community members to each have one-to-ones to build their connection to OhMo
