Tunde's fundraiser for The Welcome Project

RideLondon - Essex 2024 · 26 May 2024 ·
Story
On 26 May at midday, I will be on the start line of the RideLondon 2024 cycle ride from Tower Bridge and aiming to complete a tough 100mile through Essex and back to Central London.
So why am I doing this?
During Covid times I rediscovered a childhood passion for riding. I probably had not been on a bicycle for over 35 years at this stage. Also, due to some neck issues, my GP had suggested switching from running to either cycling or swimming. I personally love sport and how beneficial it is to both physical and mental wellbeing. Having managed to get up to a 30 mile distance, I decided to take the plunge and challenge myself to a long distance and managed to get a place in the Public Ballot and paid the entrance fee before I could change my mind 🤭 Good thing I did as the winter weather is a struggle to get out for any training whatsoever.
Why am I telling you about all this?
I’ve decided to raise money for a local Charity in East London. The Welcome Project in Ilford has a vision " To enable Homeless and Vulnerable Adults to live independent, healthy and fulfilled lives". To find out more about the wonderful work they do, please see the link to their website.
