This year, I’ve set myself a lifelong challenge to run all six World Major Marathons. It’s an ambitious goal that will take time, commitment and resilience, but I’m starting that journey now, with purpose in my heart and a cause that’s deeply personal to me.

My first marathon will be the Berlin Marathon in September followed by my second marathon in Chicago in October (3 weeks later), and I’ll be running every mile in memory of someone incredibly special - my grandma Sakina Bibi.

She lived with Parkinson’s for several years, and during that time, the Royal Derby Hospital became a second home for her and a pillar of support for our family. The care she received, especially on Ward 306, was nothing short of exceptional. The compassion, dignity and professionalism shown by the staff in her final days left a lasting impact on me. Derby is my hometown, and I will forever be grateful for the hospital that stood by my grandma when she needed it most.

That’s why I’ve chosen to raise funds for the Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity, to say thank you, to honour her memory, and to help support other patients and families who rely on these services every day.

Whether it’s contributing to better facilities, supporting frontline staff, or providing comfort for patients in their toughest moments, your donation, no matter the size, can make a real and lasting difference.

Running a marathon is tough, but it’s nothing compared to the strength shown by those living with Parkinson’s or the dedication of hospital staff working tirelessly behind the scenes. Every step I take in Berlin & Chicago will be for them.
