Back for a third year, the Sleep Out is an opportunity to connect as a community, raising funds and awareness about our vital work providing routes out of homelessness.

Story

Homelessness in London hits record levels ...

... that’s a headline we’re seeing too often. My home borough of Hackney has one of the largest homelessness problems in the country, according to a recent LSE study.

That’s why on Friday 10th October, I’ll be taking part in the Hackney Night Shelter Sleep Out—spending a night outside in the grounds of St John of Jerusalem Church. It won’t replicate the reality of sleeping rough, but it will raise urgent funds for those who don’t have a choice.

Hackney Night Shelter provides emergency beds and vital support to help people move into safe, stable homes. Last year they supported 218 people, with 90% moving on positively to longer-term accommodation.

As a local, independent charity, events like the Sleep Out are crucial to keeping their doors open every night of the year and providing routes out of homelessness.

Please sponsor me and stand with Hackney’s homeless community. Together we can turn one cold night into a better future for those most in need.
