Story
As a rugby fan, having been inspired by Kevin Sinfield who ran 7 marathons in 7 days in support of the amazing Rob Burrow, I thought I’d try to run 1 in 1 year. The My Name’5 Doddie Foundation seemed to be the perfect organisation to fundraise for and I will be running the Chicago Marathon on 13th October 2024.
Motor Neurone Disease is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It can leave people locked in a failing body unable to move, talk and eventually breathe. It kills six people every day in the UK, a third within 12 months of diagnosis and more than half within two years. It has no cure. The physical and emotional burden post diagnosis can be very difficult to process.
Both the Motor Neurone Disease Association and the My Name'5 Doddie foundation are supporting vital research into a cure for motor neurone disease and care for it's sufferers. Their efforts and the advances they've made give us hope where there was none, and we want to raise as much money as possible to continue their critical work.
As ever, any contribution would be gratefully received. I’ve been bowled over by the amounts raised by my brilliant friends and family in recent years, so hopefully we can do the same for this worthwhile cause.
Love, Oliver X
