Story
In 2026, I’ll be taking on the iconic London Marathon as part of the CHSF Team, running to support the incredible work of Children’s Heart Surgery Fund. Every mile I run is for the brave children living with congenital heart defects and the families who stand beside them. I’m proud to be raising vital funds that help provide lifesaving equipment, specialist care, and essential support when it’s needed most. This journey is about more than just the finish line - it’s about empowering heart patients and their families.
This is a deeply personal and important cause for me, as my beautiful son Alex was born with a heart defect in January 2024. Alex was born with a right aortic arch and aberrant left subclavian artery, which were diagnosed ante-natally but started affecting him after about six months, when the pressure on his oesophagus made it hard for him to swallow solids. He underwent heart surgery at Leeds General Infirmary in June 2025 and has been doing great ever since. He now loves pasta, melon and chocolate cake!
I am so grateful to all the surgeons, doctors and nurses that took such good care of Alex when he was in hospital, and also to CHSF which was a great support to all my family during a really difficult period. They provided family accommodation that meant that my wife and I could stay on site throughout, as well as toys, refreshments and advice that made the whole experience more manageable.
