Raising money for Head Up, the Mental Health Charity for the Armed Forces Community

Hollie Pocklington is raising money for Head Up Charity

Head Up, is a full not for profit, UK Armed Forces Charity. We support all serving personnel & Veterans. Whilst we continue the vital support we offer, we are saving up to develop our own Head Up wellness retreat. All donations go to towards this.

Story

You may (or may not) remember that Oliver started baking during lockdown, aged only 2. We ended up with so much cake that we started selling it and within a year had raised £1,000 for Withern Chapel.

Now Casper is taking an interest too, and we're once again finding ourselves with an abundance of cake...

We have chosen to raise money for Head Up as they are the current chosen Charity of the RAF Typhoon Display team, and Casper absolutely loves aeroplanes - especially Blackjack! We've also chosen Head Up because we have friends who are currently serving, as well as veterans, who we would not want to see without support if they needed it.

Your donations/purchases would be even more appreciated, as the boys are hoping to be able to "meet" the Typhoon Display Jet "Blackjack", if they raise enough money!

Cakes can be found for sale in Withern Chapel on Tuesdays, or give me a shout if you'd like to order some.

THE HEAD-UP RETREAT

Head Up is a new UK charity set up by four veterans to help serving and former Forces personnel build a positive mindset and increase their mental resilience.

Head Ups vision is to stem the increasing number of suicides within the military community by empowering people to turn things around before their issues have the chance to become life-threatening. They will do this by creating a unique, holistic countryside retreat that removes the existing barriers to getting the right help.

Seven-day residential courses will provide personalised mental-health support for serving and retired members from all services of the Armed Forces. They will catch those at risk of falling through the cracks in current provision. By design, the retreat will have a non-militarised atmosphere no triggering Forces paraphernalia, photographs, uniforms or hierarchies. A calm, natural and luxurious environment will help guests feel welcome and valued.
