Story
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
Me, my dad and brother along with good friends Lee and Brayden Hefford are taking part in the ‘kids by spartan’ Tough Mudder (on the 5/6th July) to raise money for the Kinder Appeal supporting Emeesy (children’s kidney network)
In May 2024 at the age of 13 I was admitted into hospital with a rash and oedema (swelling) in my legs. I was then diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called HSP (Henoch Schönlein purpura.) Doctors and nurses worked hard to get this condition into remission and to protect my kidneys as best as they could.
1 year later, lots of blood/urine tests, medication changes and 2 kidney Biopsy's my HSP is in remission. Unfortunately, this has left me with chronic kidney disease (CKD) although mild.
Whilst spending time on ward E17 in the Queens Medical Centre, I have realised that kidney conditions effect so many children in different ways and severities. I would like to help the amazing doctors and nurses to support these children and their families.
Our target is £500 to help towards Emeesy’s ‘40k for 40 years’ 2025 fund raising drive, please help where you can, any donation small or large will go a long way.
Ward E17 also run an Amazon Wishlist to support and engage children that spend time on the ward (days spent in hospital can be long and boring) the items on here will help children, families and play specialists have a little more fun and enjoyment.
