Story
I’m running the TCS 2026 London Marathon as part of #TeamBowelCancerUK — in memory of my Dad, Paul Farquharson.
My Dad died of bowel cancer aged just 36 in July 2003, after being misdiagnosed with IBS for far too long. I was only 16 months old when he lost his battle, leaving behind my mum, my two older siblings, and a lifetime of memories we never got to share.
This cruel disease has stolen birthdays, Christmases, graduations, and so many other milestones. That’s why I’m running — to help ensure fewer families have to face the same heartbreak.
I also want to help break the silence and embarrassment around talking about our bowels. Early detection saves lives — but only if we feel able to speak up and get checked. By taking on this challenge, I hope to raise awareness, encourage open conversations, and support vital research so more lives can be saved.
Every penny I raise will go directly to Bowel Cancer UK, the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. They work tirelessly to save lives and improve the quality of life for everyone affected by the disease. Their work includes:
Funding targeted research
Providing expert information and support to patients and families
Educating the public and healthcare professionals
Campaigning for early diagnosis and access to the best treatment and care
Your donation could make a real difference:
£10 could deliver an awareness talk
£25 could provide an hour’s expert nurse support through the Ask the Nurse service
£50 could help support policy work to improve bowel screening
Together, we can help Bowel Cancer UK move closer to their vision: a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer.
Thank you for supporting me — and this cause so close to my heart.
